Clearing The Land
- Clear view of our building site from across the road. Notice the white pop-up trailer and the driveway up to it. The rest of the knoll are young Douglas Fir.
- Stack of young DougFir on the right being pulled out by my jeep and I.
- Before any trees are removed. This view is looking exactly where the garage will be.
- I couldn’t wait for the Excavator…I had to start with my jeep and chainsaw.
- Jeep and I dragging(skidding) the first of the trees out.
- Small cleared area where our cabin will eventually sit.
- One of the first people we met offered his tractor for some of the work that had to be done. Wow, what a blessing. We used it many days that first year. Thanks Dwayne!
- I thought I was pretty tough stuff to be moving this big old growth timber.
- My daughter Briana holding our grandson Eli watching his favorite heavy equipment…the Excavator.
- Grandpa Dave enjoys watching the earth move with his grandkids Lucia and Elijah. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
- Dwayne pitching in.
- We had two 10’x30′ piles of brush and trees to burn.
- I guess Bonnie has a streak of ‘pyro’ in her. Here she is spraying diesel on the pile to heat up the flame. It took 3 days to burn just one pile.
- Bonnie is burning the second pile little by little..
- This snag is only 100 feet from our cabin. Eagles and other wildlife frequent the property.
- Most of the clearing is done. Bonnie and I spent 195 days living in our pop-up trailer. Later you will see our camp.
- Ken came over to help with the heavy lifting. Thanks Ken.
- You are looking at the site of the garage.
- Eli loves tractors!
- There is nothing better than to share your dream with your kids and grandkids.
- Burning this pile was more work than I anticipated.
- I had to constantly move the brush up onto the pile to keep things burning. I even rented this gas powered fan to raise the temp.
- The site of the garage is starting to materialize.
